What is Soy wax??
Soy wax is from a vegetable wax made from the oils of soybeans. After its been harvested the beans are then cleaned, cracked, de-hulled and then rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process alters the melting point of the oil, making it then hard at room temperature. The left over bean husks are often used for animal feed.
What are the benefits?
The advantage of soy is that it is completely renewable. Soy candles are eco-friendly they produce a lot less soot (black smoke) soy is natural, the smoke does not contain toxins and carcinogens that other waxes may contain.
